UIC Institute for Research on Addictions represents a cohesive, multidisciplinary collaboration among early-, mid-career, and seasoned investigators to address the major public health and societal concern of substance misuse and addictions. The overarching aims of the Institute will help catalyze and promote high quality successful transdisciplinary research on addictions.

  • Aim 1 Maintain a dynamic central hub that supports effective and coordinated collaboration and engagement across the UIC Addictions Research community.

  • Aim 2 Provide scientific leadership and facilitate research on high priority topics by identifying research needs, gaps, and providing the means to address research questions through engagement of the research community.

  • Aim 3 Provide a robust logistical and research support infrastructure for facilitating research design and methodological needs.

  • Aim 4 Provide career enhancement activities across the Addiction research projects and community through mentorship and leadership opportunities.

  • Aim 5 Disseminate research resources to members of the Institute through multiple channels; synthesize research findings across the research members; provide opportunities to highlight emerging research findings; and coordinate information sharing.
