UIC’s Institute for Research on Addictions is an interdisciplinary and collaborative community of faculty, clinicians, and research scientists working to address the major public health and societal concerns of substance misuse and addictions.

Benefits of membership include:
- Opportunities to be part of a collaborative ecosystem dedicated to enhancing research synergies, productivity, and impact.
- Opportunities to share research and participate in Institute sponsored events, including seminars, “works in progress” meetings, and symposia
- Guidance and mentoring in applying for research funding, feedback and review of grant proposals
- Opportunities for pilot grant funds
- Access to methods development and analytic support, data management support, and shared project management personnel.
- Access to grant administration and management processes
In return, members are expected to:
- Hold a primary faculty or Research Scientist position at UIC, or a joint appointment at UIC if primary location is another institution
- Submit an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae or NIH format biosketch annually, including a link to a publication record (this may be an NCBI “My Bibliography” link [preferred], Google Scholar, ResearcherID, Research Gate profile, etc.). We require this information to update databases and for our annual report.
- Add UIC Institute for Research on Addictions as an affiliation for publications and acknowledge the Institute in papers and presentations if a member receives resources / funding from the Institute.
Memberships are renewed annually. You must submit an updated CV or NIH biosketch with the renewal application.
Trainee Membership:
Post-doctoral and graduate level students are invited to apply for membership to the Institute. Trainees will be invited to participate in research workshops, seminars, and training programs organized by the Institute. Trainee Members will also be offered opportunities to engage in research projects under the guidance of faculty members and institute researchers. Trainee’s must have a faculty member sponsor their participation in the Institute. Trainee memberships will be a one-year appointment and must re-apply after one year. Trainee members must also submit a current CV to keep on file. If interested in applying, please complete this form.
