About
Elizabeth is a doctoral candidate in the department of Community Health Sciences at the UIC School of public health and holds a masters in public health from the University of Michigan. Elizabeth’s research interests meet at the intersection of addiction and harm reduction research and practices and is focused on novel approaches to peer support services and reducing stigma surrounding medication assisted treatment (MAT). With a background in harm reduction research and practice, Elizabeth hopes to bridge the gap between both harm reduction and addiction practices to help minimize drug-related deaths. She utilizes multiple methods including qualitative research, mixed methods, content analysis and community-based research. Elizabeth is currently working on her dissertation which aims to create standardized harm reduction training for peer recovery coaches through involvement with people who use drugs (PWUD). Elizabeth remains active in the community through volunteer work at harm reductions in southern California and Illinois and enjoys travel and collecting postcards and stickers.
