About
Dr. Sarah Donohue's research on addiction started with examining the role of attention. Dr. Donohue specifically focused on how attention can be captured by reward-related stimuli, including addiction-related stimuli, and how this capture appears rapid, and can occur outside of awareness. She is also interested in the role of craving in addiction, and specifically how it interacts with cognitive control processes. The methodologies Dr. Donohue is most familiar with include EEG, MEG, fMRI and behavior, but she has received additional training in epidemiology, and is interested in expanding into this realm. Her current research interests include understanding the interplay between craving and cognitive control and how this changes over the lifespan, identifying demographic factors, including social determinants of health, and how these impact smoking behaviors, and identifying protective factors in cognitive control that may help in smoking cessation.
