About
Dr. Fokuo is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. Her overall research interest is in improving access to care, engagement and retention for patients with stigmatized conditions, such as substance use disorder. She uses an intergroup, stigma reduction guided approach in developing targeted interventions for individuals, communities and healthcare systems. Dr. Fokuo is currently a Co-Investigator on a National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) multisite hybrid implementation-effectiveness clinical trial which aims to evaluate the integration of MOUD with buprenorphine in trusted, non-medical community settings to improve engagement and retention in MOUD treatment of Black persons with OUD.
