Kathleen Kristensen is a doctoral student working under the mentorship of Dr. Basmattee Boodram in the UIC School of Public Health’s Community Health Sciences PhD program. Her research focuses on understanding individual and contextual factors that are related to substance use risk behaviors and engagement in harm reduction services among people who use drugs. Specifically, Kathleen is working on developing a dissertation project that applies minority stress theory to understand drug use risk behaviors and engagement in harm reduction services among transgender and gender-diverse individuals who use drugs and their social networks.
